Stay at the Rootseller Inn, a lovely heritage house in the heart of Miner's Bay, Mayne Island.

The Inn

Sitting in the heart of Mayne Island, the Rootseller Inn is one of the island's oldest Inns. Although it's in the middle of what we call "town", the trees and gardens that surround the house create a barrier from shops, restaurants and pubs, all within a block.

Take your early morning coffee to the park across the street and find the trail to Miner's Bay Beach - it is lovely and tranquil - you may see a seal, a family of otters, deer, and lots of bird life as old man heron keeps an eye out for vagrants. It is his territory, you see.

A Happy Guest

It's so hard these days to make time - weekends bring a fury of events that literally sweep me off my feet and drop me back down Sunday wondering where my supposedly restful weekend went.

I am reminded of the importance of taking time when I arrive here.

I am quiet, ever listening to the call of the water and sky.

Within moments, I feel different. No appointments, no dinner parties, no nothing.

It is refreshing - a wonder for the soul, my soul which feels a little tender, hardworked, and definitely in need of some TLC.

Thanks for giving me a restful weekend. I will be back for more.
