Terms of Use

We’re going to keep the rules pretty simple: be nice, don’t publish information that is harmful, personal or untrue about others in the community. If you have beef, take it up with them directly. If you wouldn’t say it to them in person, don’t say it here (unless you’re generally a mean person, then don’t say it here either).

While Mayne Island dot com (mi.com) is a community resource, it is also a privately owned website. That means that we reserve the right to remove any content/comments you make that we deem unsavoury and throw them as far out into the Salish Sea as we can manage. If we’re able, we’ll contact you and let you know that your comment was removed and why. The formal appeal process is that we’ll have a conversation about it. If we’ve made a mistake, we’ll fix it. However, repeatedly posting mean things will result in you being asked to leave the premises and you’ll be immediately stricken from our party invite list.

We want mi.com to be a welcoming and inclusive place for all members of our community and for visitors to the island. Regardless of if you are a tennis player or a pickleball player, let’s all just try to get along here. Hate speech, racism, sexism, ageism, permanent resident/weekender/vistorisms, sportsisms won’t be tolerated. Let’s all agree that we have different opinions, but that we all have this great little corner of the world in common.

Finally, we reserve the right to make changes to these terms at any point. Things change, and so do the terms of use. Just as new potholes constantly appear in our roads, new issues arise online.
